New solar? Your annual EV electricity need is one input to a whole-home design. Solar does not generate at night without stored daytime energy. The calculator does not assume every EV kWh can be offset at retail rates or estimate guaranteed solar savings.
Review my EV and solar estimateHow we calculate your EV charging cost
Driving electricity = miles ÷ EV efficiency (miles per kWh). Electricity drawn from your home = driving electricity ÷ (1 − charging losses). Monthly cost = home electricity drawn × your charging electricity rate. Cost per mile = monthly charging cost ÷ miles driven.
The estimated annual EV kWh helps you discuss the additional energy demand with a qualified solar installer. It is not itself a solar panel sizing or savings estimate, particularly for homeowners with NEM 1.0, NEM 2.0 or net billing.
