Solar panel upgrades in Orange County
Swap aging or failed modules on a system that already exists. This is not adding panels, and it is not a repair visit.
When replacement beats expansion
Add panels if the current array still produces and you need more kWh. Replace modules if they are cracked, delaminating, unsafe, or so old that mixing them with new hardware creates a monitoring and warranty mess. We inspect production data and the roof before we recommend a swap.
What the job includes
- Assessment of the existing array, racking, and inverter
- Like-for-like or capacity-change path, named before we file
- City permit and utility paperwork for the work we actually do
- Inverter or monitoring updates only when the new modules require them—not a bundled upsell
Need more kWh on a healthy array? Use solar system expansion. Dead inverter, still-good panels? Use solar repair.
Is an upgrade the same as adding panels?
No. An upgrade replaces modules that are already on the roof. Expansion adds capacity next to a working array. Repair fixes inverters, monitoring, and production faults without swapping the whole field. Tell us which problem you have.
Will replacing panels change my utility agreement?
Like-for-like swaps and capacity increases are filed differently. We check interconnection and whether the work is a swap or a larger system before we submit. We do not guess your NEM status from a blog post.
Can you upgrade a system another company installed?
Yes. We inspect the existing racking, inverters, and service before we promise new modules will bolt on. Some arrays are worth keeping the rails. Some are not.
Do you add a Tesla battery with the new panels?
Solar Topper does not offer Tesla products. If backup or evening load under NEM 3 justifies a battery, we will say so on the proposal. If it does not, we will not strap one on to fatten the bid.
